We’re a team of passionate musicians working hard to make a positive impact in our community through shared learning and empowerment to experience joy through music. We celebrate all types of guitar players and want our instructors to reflect that diversity. 

Musicians Wanted

We value a great attitude with an eagerness to learn and are willing to train musicians who haven’t taught before or aren’t the most advanced guitarist. No matter your background or experience level in music education, we’d love to hear from you!

As our enrollment grows, we’re looking for several types of instructors:

  • Guitar & Music Aficionados – the performers we all know and love of every style and genre
  • Former Educators – parents or teachers returning to work after a pause who are passionate about education and have an interest in guitar
  • Hidden Gems – who have lots of private practice and could use some training
  • Recent University Graduates – looking for long-term teaching opportunities
  • Early Childhood Instructors for ages 0-8 years old
  • Advanced Guitar Instructors with any specialization but especially classical, jazz and rock guitar

Available Instructor Positions

Private & Group Lesson Instructor

Part-Time (Ongoing)

Our instructors are the core of what makes Riverside Guitar School a personal, productive, and joyful place. We’re looking for people with a heart for teaching and a passion for guitar. 

 You could be a great fit if you:

  • Play guitar and are looking to get a start in teaching
  • Have a degree in music, music education, or education
  • Are a former classroom teacher who loves music

We have our own curriculum to help guide your teaching and you’ll teach this curriculum in a flexible way that allows for supplementing with songs or topics requested by students. 

Duties include:
  • Learning our curriculum
  • Teaching private lessons and group classes at our studio 
  • Taking attendance for your lessons and classes 
  • Teaching classes and leading music experiences in the community with our partners
Compensation:

Negotiable hourly rate

Schedule:

We will work with you to make a part-time schedule that fits your life and works around your other commitments.

 

Director of Education

Part-Time with intention to grow to Full-Time

We’re looking for a Director of Education to revise and improve our curriculum, provide training and mentorship for our teachers, and serve as an advocate for students and families.

Qualifications:

Duties:

  • Oversee our curriculum and educational programs
  • Help to refine and revise curriculum
  • Write lesson plans and develop educational pathways through our curriculum
  • Train and mentor teachers
  • Serve as an advocate for students and their families
  • Teach / lead occasional classes, camps and workshops

 

Early Childhood Instructor – Infant to Age 8 

Part-Time / Full-Time 

We host a variety of group classes for babies and children, and are seeking instructors for our in-studio Early Childhood, Pickin’ Pals and Young Strummers classes (ages infant – 8 years old + their parent/guardian) plus teaching opportunities in area daycare and early childhood centers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Education, Education, or Early Childhood Education ideal but not required
  • Some experience or certification with Music Learning Theory ideal but not required
  • Comfortability and patience in working with younger students
  • Interest in building positive, long-term relationships with students and their parents

 

Advanced Guitar Instructor

Part-Time / Full-Time

We host a variety of group classes and private lessons for all ages, and are seeking instructors for our more advanced guitar students (ages 13+). 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music Education, Education, or Guitar Performance ideal but not required
  • Some experience or certification with Music Learning Theory ideal but not required
  • Confidence and empathy to challenge and empower advanced students at their skill level

 


 

Substitute & Limited Opportunities

Can’t commit to a regular schedule but interested in short-term or sub positions? We often have shorter-term or limited-time frame opportunities available, including:

Choral Instructor for Senior Living Community 

2hrs/week starting August 25th, Ongoing

We’re looking for someone to direct a low-key, casual choir at a senior living community in Forest Hills and play music for their happy hour each Tuesday.

Duties include:
  • Prepare music for and direct the choir
  • Play music (piano, guitar or other instrument) for happy hour
Compensation: $110 / week
Schedule:

Weekly on Tuesdays from 2 – 3:45pm
2-3pm Choir practice
3-3:45pm Happy Hour Music
